Matthew H. Carlson has over 19 years of experience practicing law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Carlson focuses his practice on commercial real estate financing with concentrations in the acquisition and disposition of mortgage loans, mezzanine financing, subordinate debt, post-closing modifications and loan sales and purchases. He has represented a number of investment banks and institutional investors in a wide variety of commercial real estate properties, including office buildings, hotels, retail and multi-family properties.
Mr. Carlson was previously an associate in the Corporate Trust group at Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A., where he advised and represented private equity funds and other institutional investors in commercial real estate and credit facility transactions, and issued substantive nonconsolidation and true sale opinions to rating agencies on behalf of bankruptcy-remote special purpose entities.
Mr. Carlson is a 1994 graduate of Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire with an A.B. in Government, and a 1996 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut with an M.A. in Political Science. Mr. Carlson graduated in the top 10% percent of his class from the Villanova University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 2006.
Mr. Carlson currently resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with his wife and two children.
